Community Access Fund

Care should be accessible

At Samara Collective, we believe wellness shouldn't be something available only to people with disposable income.
Herbal medicine, education, supportive care, and opportunities to reconnect with our bodies, the land, and one another have often existed within communities through sharing, teaching, growing, gathering, and mutual care. The Community Access Fund is one way we're working to carry that spirit forward.

The fund is supported through contributions, a portion of Samara's work and sales, and the generosity of people who choose to give a little more when they are able. Those resources are then used to help reduce financial barriers to Samara's herbal medicines, educational opportunities, workshops, community programs, and other wellness resources.

Our goal isn't to create a separate system of care for people who have less. It's to build accessibility into the same community from the beginning.
Someone may purchase a bottle of herbal medicine today and contribute a few dollars to the fund. Someone else may need help accessing that medicine later. A neighbor may share plants growing abundantly in their yard through our Community Medicine Project. Those plants may become medicine, educational materials, or resources that return to the community. A workshop participant may pay the full cost of a class, helping make a reduced-cost place possible for someone else.

Each contribution becomes part of a larger cycle of reciprocity.
We also recognize that financial access is only one kind of access. Disability, transportation, chronic illness, caregiving responsibilities, identity, discrimination, and many other circumstances can shape whether someone is able to participate in wellness spaces. As Samara grows, we want the Community Access Fund to grow with it, helping us experiment with practical ways of making our programs and resources more reachable.

We don't believe everyone needs to contribute the same amount to belong here. We believe communities become stronger when people can participate in different ways according to what they have, what they need, and what they can offer.

Some people bring plants.
Some bring knowledge.
Some bring money.
Some bring time.
Some come because they need care.
All of those things can have a place in the ecosystem.

The Community Access Fund is our commitment to keeping that ecosystem open.
